Ederson Eyes Saudi Shores
Manchester City goalkeeper, Ederson, has resolved his future amid ongoing transfer speculation linking him to the Saudi Pro League (SPL).
The 30-year-old Brazilian, who has been City’s undisputed, number one shot-stopper for seven years, was reportedly looking for a new challenge, due to feeling undervalued. Coach Pep Guardiola has reassured Ederson that he is their main man, but several SPL clubs came calling.
Reports claim that Al-Nassr FC initially led the race to sign him, but their £25-million offer fell short of City’s £50-million asking price, prompting Al-Ittihad to enter negotiations. Despite interest from both clubs, no agreement was reached.
After discussions with Guardiola and City officials, Ederson has confirmed his decision to stay at Etihad Stadium.
Their plan is to reward Ederson with a new contract with as-of-yet unknown details and conditions. This would follow similar renewals for their back-ups, Stefan Ortega and Scott Carson, ensuring stability in City’s goalkeeping department as they prepare for the upcoming season.
